2015 Buchanan Truck Giveaway was a success!

2015 Buchanan Truck Giveaway was a success!

On August 11, 2015 Buchanan Finally announced the winner. Since May 15th, we have been running a contest to promote recruiting drivers. In our industry we are short drivers.  We believe that if we want to succeed in growing our fleet we have to work as a team, set the example on driver treatment and take down the barriers between trucks and desks.

The contest was simple. Tell your friends, colleagues or fellow truckers about Buchanan. If they filled out an application and came to orientation you got a ticket into the drawing. We had almost 50 entries and the contest was a success. It got staff to think about what it takes to get a driver to make the switch. It made them talk to drivers to hear their concerns and wants. Every employee at Buchanan was eligible to participate and we had office staff and drivers with tickets into the drawing.

Our winner was Billy Sproles, a flatbed driver from Bristol Tennessee. He recruited several drivers to our company and during the contest got three tickets in.  We have a party set up with Chevy Truck themed decorations, balloons, cake and catered luncheon. We also had the news waiting here for the announcement.  It was  exciting and nerve racking waiting for him to arrive. You never know what will happen on the open road but we really wanted it to be a surprise.  We watched on the map as he made his way thought Indiana, updated staff throughout the morning so they could participate in the big reveal. Once arrived we all gathered around the truck and gave a rousing speech about why this contest was so important.  It taught us that in the present and in the future, we will have to work together to build our brand and name. We have to become the kind of place every driver want to retire from. We have to build our fleet.  We can only do this together, as a team.

Once we announced Billy’s name, we asked him for a speech. It was short, sweet and profound. “I have the good lord above, a woman to love and a good job.”  We could not have said it better Billy!

Congratulations to Billy Sproles, the 2015 Buchanan Truck Giveaway winner.

New addition to the Buchanan family

We would like to announce a new addition to our company!

We have purchased a trucking company out of Clute Texas.  JIT transportation works around the Houston, Texas area. They are a 90 truck operation with 80% van and 20% flat-specialized trailers. They have a great customer base and good people within their company. Managers, operations staff and drivers alike will be joining the Buchanan Family.

We went live with this operation on June 29th with a successful transition, creating more opportunity for all of us. As we wrap up this integration, we would like to take this moment to officially welcome everyone from our new Texas locations to the BHRI group.

Becky and I would also like to take this moment to thank the staff for helping to make this possible. Each and every one of you were a part of this growth and we are truly blessed to have a group of employees who work hard and still take the time to think of others. The smile on your faces makes these long hours worthwhile.  We spend our days seeing young people come to work each day, enjoying the business, the drivers and their fellow employees. Makes one pause and realize how truly blessed we are.
